Artist Statement

My interdisciplinary practice examines how internal and geographical landscapes shape one another, how memory and perception inform our experience of place, and how environmental change becomes legible through acts of documentation. I am interested in the specificity of landscape beyond what is merely seen, working to capture its atmosphere, emotion and character.

My works unfold through sustained observation, research, and documentation, often using photography, video, and audio recordings to inform their development. Attending to both the marvellous and mundane, I seek out recurring patterns, subtle details, textures, and gestures that inform my material language.

In navigating the space between encounter and translation, I recognise landscapes as sites of continuous change. I explore how ecological shifts and human presence become embedded in environments over time, experimenting with image, text and sound to articulate these relationships.

Working across painting, photography, poetry, installation and time-based media, my practice reflects the interconnectedness between ourselves and our surroundings. I am interested in the ways different media can hold and communicate different encounters with place, and I continue to explore new ways of articulating the emotional and ecological relationships that shape our experience of the world.
